In our recent webinar, "Making the Case for Remote Diabetes Monitoring in 2026," SweetSpot leaders Dr. Amiad Fredman (Co-Founder & CPO) and Jodi Hughes (Director of Diabetes Education & Clinical Services) explored how the landscape of diabetes care is shifting. The session focused on the powerful combination of new clinical standards and updated reimbursement models that make remote diabetes monitoring more accessible and essential than ever before.
We covered a wide range of clinical and financial strategies during the session. Below, we’ve highlighted the key takeaways and discussion points. If you missed the live event, you can now watch the full on-demand recording here.
Key Takeaways from the 2026 ADA Standards of Care
The 2026 ADA updates provide significant "tailwinds" for remote care:
CGM for All: The ADA now recommends CGM use at diabetes onset and any time thereafter for patients on insulin or therapies that cause hypoglycemia. This shifts CGM from a "rescue tool" to a standard starting point for management. Read more about this change here.
Removing Barriers: There are no longer requirements for C-peptide levels or a specific duration of insulin treatment before starting automated insulin delivery (AID) or pump therapy. Read more about the impact of this change here.
Hybrid Care Validation: The ADA formally recognizes that telehealth and digital self-management tools are effective and should be considered standard practice.
The 2026 Reimbursement Landscape
One of the most exciting shifts in 2026 is the introduction of new CPT codes that make remote diabetes monitoring programs more sustainable for practices of all sizes:
Code 99445: This new code covers 2–15 days of data monitoring, capturing revenue in months where a patient might not hit the previous 16-day requirement.
Code 99470: This allows billing for the initial 10–19 minutes of care management time, ensuring clinicians are compensated even for shorter, frequent interventions.
These updates create a substantial revenue opportunity for endocrinology practices today. Read more about CPT codes for remote monitoring here.
