We're excited to announce that Sweetspot now integrates with the iLet Bionic Pancreas from Beta Bionics. For practices managing patients on the iLet, this means device data flows directly into Sweetspot — viewable and manageable right alongside the rest of your patients' information, with no separate logins or manual workarounds.

It's an integration we've been looking forward to, and one our clinical team is genuinely enthusiastic about. So rather than just tell you the feature is live, we wanted to share what some of our own diabetes educators think about the device itself — who it's right for, and why it matters.

The Data Behind the Device

Beta Bionics has made its real-world outcomes public, and the numbers are hard to ignore. Their published data shows an average A1c reduction of 1.6%, with improvement across every baseline A1c category — except for patients who started below 7%, which makes sense given how much room there is to improve when control is already tight.

What stood out most to our team: even patients who rarely or never announce their meals still see a meaningful reduction in A1c. That speaks to how much of the work the iLet's algorithm is doing on the patient's behalf.

What Our Clinical Team Thinks

We asked our diabetes educators for their honest take. The consensus: the iLet is an excellent option for the right patient — and a big quality-of-life win for people who want to spend less time thinking about their diabetes.

"Insulin pumps make life with diabetes easier and take away some of the daily mental load for patients. The iLet is excellent for a person who wants to spend less time thinking about their diabetes. I've seen it work wonders for patients who struggle to remember injections, struggle with carb counting, or need the help of family members for their diabetes management. For the Type 1 micromanaging personality or well-controlled patient, I usually suggest a different pump — you can't micromanage the iLet! But it's all up to patient preference."

Ellen D.

A recurring theme was the sheer reduction in daily burden:

"A typical person using multiple daily injections takes 4–5 shots per day — that's 35 pokes per week and up to 150 per month. Now imagine only having to do a site change about 10 times a month versus 150 shots. A huge improvement for quality of life!"

Jodi H.

Our team was also clear-eyed that it isn't a fit for everyone, and that a pump can be the right call even when A1c already looks good:

"It's definitely great for the right patient — it's not a good fit for everyone. A pump is important even if you're in good control; those patients are putting in the work with multiple daily injections, and a pump at that point may improve quality of life and patient safety. You can have a good A1c and a lot of hypoglycemia, and a pump can protect you from that."

Haylie K.

The thread that ties it all together is choice — and the data backs it up:

"I've listened to a number of Beta Bionics webinars and find the real-world data impressive. Even the patients who rarely or never announce meals see a reduction in A1c. I think the iLet is a great option for the person who hasn't been very engaged with their diabetes, or who just wants to simplify life with diabetes. It's great to have options — for those who want it very simple all the way to those who like to micromanage."

Janet H.

Bringing It All Into One Place

The iLet's value is in simplifying diabetes management for patients. Our goal with this integration is to do the same for the clinical teams supporting them — bringing iLet data into the same streamlined workflow you already use in Sweetspot every day, so you can spend less time wrangling data and more time with your patients.
